Wajid of Sajid-Wajid jodi was suffering ever since he developed blockage in arteries and had to undergo angioplasty. The musician passed away om May 31 after a two-month stay in Surana Sethia Hospital (Chembur), where he also contracted COVID-19 towards his last days.

Reminiscing their acquaintance, Sona Mohapatra says,  “Wajid was a fantastic guy. We worked together in Sa Re Ga Ma Pa (Zee TV) in 2018 and got along very well.  He had lots of patience. He could talk to you for 2 hours. He was always a well-wisher of everyone around him.”

“But let me tell you he was suffering a lot. At times,  he had to even leave the set midway.
He had developed a kidney problem and his immunity kept failing him. I recall once be hurt himself on stage and it was a minor cut- but he bled so badly that it was heartbreaking.

I loved the music he made with Sajid. They always had the desi beat in their tunes. That set them apart from many other composers of today’s times.”

Regrets Sona,  “I wish I had kept in touch with him. We hadn’t spoken since the past 3 months.”
“Wajid’s demise is a big loss to the music industry,” Sona concluded.
